Solar Eclipse - 2019 December 26 - Guam
Back when I was living in the US,
there was a solar eclipse crossing from the west coast,
all the way to the east coast of the United States.
Unfortunately at the time I wasn’t really aware of it and
decided not to go where the path of totality was (when the moon perfectly covers the sun).
Two years have past since then.
And this month I will have the chance to photograph it
with the help of Canon Korea and National Geographic Traveler Korea.
On December 26, 2019,
the eclipse will pass by SouthEast Asia,
and hit the small Island of Guam,
where I’ll be waiting.
I’ve been preparing for the 3 minute and 40 second occurrence for the past 5 months.
I’ve been studying how to photograph the solar eclipse,
different locations, what type of gear I’ll be using.
Every time I think about how I will have a chance to photograph
this phenomenon I get quite emotional.
It’s an idea that has been on my mind for almost two years in the making.
Just for a total of 3 minutes and 40 seconds.
How crazy is that.
I am not sure how things will unfold,
but I believe this has taught me a lot of lessons on its own.
Looking forward to something in the future may bring some people hope to what is to come.
Preparing for the eclipse has taught me
to be more patient with myself and others.
It has taught me how to create a beautiful narrative
through photography and how to speak with different clients.
How to explain a crazy idea in such a passionate way.
Hopefully in about 3 weeks,
my goal to capture my first ever eclipse will be done.
If things don’t turn out the way I’m planning,
there will always be a next time.
